Base Malts make up a majority of your grain bill in All-Grain brewing. These malted grains (generally barley, wheat & rye) have the diastatic power to convert the grain starches into sugars during the mash process.
You can use these grains for up to 100% of your grain bill, or you can use large percentages of Base Malts with small amounts of Specialty & Adjunct Grains to give your beer color, body & flavor.
